MARMA
Ayurveda defines Masrma as "Marayanti iti Marmani", that means the anatomical sites , injury to which causes death. Word Marma literally Means vital, tender or secret things.
There are certain anatomical locations known as the Marma in the body , which are vital in sense , that any injury to these part is extremely painful and can cripple the local function or even lead to death of the individual. Therefore, they are to be taken care of during surgical procedures and in a injured patient.
The reason behind the sensitivity of the Marma is that, the Marma are the seats of PRANA in the body, and they are the junctions of different channels of Prana movement in the body. Thus when affected the organs linked with prana channels become starved and some organ become diseased, crippied or paralyzed. The ruptured junctions for easy outlet for prana from the body and this may led to death, either immediatly or slowly depending upon the quantum or prana being lost
