- One project operating in violation of the EIA can now apply for clearance that is the project that have come up illegally without environment clearance can actually be legalized.
- Earlier buildings of 20 000 square meter or above required an EIA clearance. After detailed scrutiny by the state level expert appraisal committee. Now it will be 150000 square meter almost the size of 11 eden garden ground
- The violation can be reported by government representatives or the project proponents not citizens
- The new draft exams a long list of projects from public consultation for example linear projects such as road and pipelines in border areas will not require any public hearing
- All island water projects and expansion or widening of national highways will exempt from prior clearance this includes roads that cut through forest and deading of major rivers
